When Louis Sullivan saw the Tribune Tower going up in the 1920’s, he said it set American architecture  back fifty years.  I feel that way about James McMullan’s column in the New York Times.  What a great opportunity–wasted!  The majority of the people who write in their comments  are starved for this topic.  But what we get from Mr. McMullan are stiff drawings and the encouragement to keep thinking literally, instead of visually.  I’ll stop here before this turns into a rant.
